April A to Z - I is for iHero

Hello gamebookers! Today, we have the 2 Steves, writers of the iHero series.  We visited them last year with a bonus interview in May, so we are going to see how they have been doing over the past 12 months.

Have fun!

How has the past 12 months been?
GOOD- BEEN TO TRAVELLING ALL AROUND UK AND HAD 3 WEEKS VISITING SCHOOLS IN CHINA!

Where do you get the ideas for your gamebooks?
DISCUSSION WITHE ACH OTHER AND WITH OUR EXCELLENT EDITOR AT FRANKLIN WATTS - ADRIAN COLE

How do you divide the labour? Do you do a certain set of jobs each, or do you just write half a book each, or do you write your own books?

DISCUSS THE PLOT AND THEN ONE WILL WRITE BOOK. PASS IT TO THE OTHER WHO SUGGESTS/EDITS ETC

What advice would you off to someone who thinks that they want to write their own gamebook?
THINK ABOUT THE PATHWAYS!

What spoils a gamebook for you?
OBVIOUS PATHWAYS - WE TRY AND BE UNPREDICATABLE

What makes a gamebook stand out for you?
GOOD TENSION AND MAKING THE READER WANT TO TURN THE PAGE!

What future projects do you have that you can talk about?
WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT JUNIOR GAMEBOOKS - BRINGING LEVELS / THEMES DOWN TO SUIT 5/6 YEAR OLDS

What is your wish for gamebooks?

THATGAMEBOOKS ARE  RECOGNISED FOR GETTING THE RELUCTANT READER TO WANT TO READ - AND THAT THEY ARE NOT HIVED OFF INTO A CORNER AND CONSIDERED THAT THEY AREN'T "LITERARY" BY THE MORE POE FACED CRITICS (OH YEAH AND SEE THAT THE I HERO SERIES BECOMES MEGA SUCCESSFUL WORLD WIDE)
